German grocery store chain Lidl soon will open a new store location in Woodbridge at 2070 Tacketts Village Square.
The supermarket chain submitted project plans of its $4.1 million, 35,000-square-foot building located off of I-95 to the county last year, and has just announced that the new location is set to open on Thursday, January 11. The grand opening a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 7:40 a.m.; the store will officially be open for business at 8 a.m.
Lidl has 10,000 stores worldwide, and is known for selling its products at low prices. Lidl’s and other European grocery chains, such as Aldi’s (German), reflects a growing trend in grocery shopping, which has started to provide an alternative to American stores selling traditional brand names and products.
Lidl’s store in Woodbridge and elsewhere gives grocery shoppers more options in buying the same products at lower prices without sacrificing the quality afforded by known, trusted and familiar brand names. Woodbridge customers will have a chance to sample Lidl’s products at the grand opening. Customers will also be able to buy fine products, including a nice wine selection and anything from its in-store bakery.
If you are one of the eager local area grocery shoppers who will be at the grand opening, be sure to arrive bright and early as the first 100 customers will be given a chance to win Lidl gift cards. All shoppers will be given a free reusable grocery bag, only while supplies last.
