This haunted Virginia wine tour unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before.
Every Friday in October, the Winery at Bull Run will be hosting haunted wine tours! This isn’t like the haunted tours from your childhood — with guys holding fake chainsaws. No, this one combines fascinating Civil War history with a delicious wine tasting!
Bull Run is actually the site of the Manassas Battlefield where a famous Civil War battle took place — in which more than 22,000 people died. During the day, the gentle rolling fields can seem eerily calming, but at night, it transforms into a land haunted with whispers and glowing orbs.
Three guided tours occur each Friday night, starting at 6 p.m. Tours begin with a wine tasting of eight different wines that are made right there at the winery — a perfect way to start your spooky trek!
While there are some special effects (think: fog machines), the nighttime tour is not as frightening as others. The well-informed tour guides give plenty of historical context of the grounds, and long-standing winery employees are on hand at every turn to chat about their favorite ghosts and their own supernatural experiences. The walking portion of the tour lasts about an hour, with several stops for tasting more of Bull Run’s delicious wines throughout.
Unfortunately, because of the wine tasting, this haunted tour is not for the whole family. Participants must be 21 and over. Tickets cost $45 and can be purchased here on the winery’s website.
